Using a desktop to submit a media recording to an assignment
As an alternative to Kaltura My Media, Canvas has a built-in tool that allows students and faculty to upload a media file (mp4, mp3, etc.). To do so:

Within the Rich Content Editor, select the Insert menu

Select the Media > option

Select Upload/Record Media

Drag a media/movie file on the rocket

Click Submit
You can also use the Record tab to record from your webcam.
Assignment submission in the Canvas mobile app (example is Android, iPhone is similar)
1. Open the Assignment and click Submit Assignment at the bottom.
2. Select Choose Media File or select the Record options to record a video. (Recording not recommended. Your video will be lost if there is an error!)
3. Select the file if you chose the file option.
4. Allow the file to upload. The phone's status will confirm the successful upload.
5. Back in the app, click Submit.
6. See that the assignment was submitted successfully.
Discussion response using the mobile browser (example is Chrome on Android, iPhone is similar)
1. Open the discussion and click Reply.
2. Scroll the toolbar to and click the media icon.
3. Click the rocket to browse for your file.
4. Select Media Picker if prompted.
5. Select your video.
6. Click Submit.
7. Click Reply to submit your discussion post.
Discussion response using the mobile app
1. Click Reply to open the Rich Content Editor on the Discussion or Assignment.
2. Scroll the toolbar to and select the media icon.
3. Select Upload/Record media.
4. Click the rocket to browse for the file or select the Record tab to record a video. (Recording not recommended. Your video will be lost if there is an error!)
5. Select Media Picker if prompted.
6. Select the video file.
7. Click Submit.
8. Click Reply to save your response.
