Project Status Update Guidelines

Project status updates are an important part of keeping stakeholders informed about projects, monitor risks and barriers that need to be resolved, and to help in resource management and allocation.  They are also critical in overall portfolio management and project prioritization.

Project updates are typically done by the Project Manager.  It is recommended that updates be done routinely on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Project status updates may appear in reports and dashboards, so plain language is recommended.
